There’s a new indoor rabbit habitat coming to Sydney in February 2018.
The indoor garden will be located at the new Rabbit Park, a new outdoor complex that will house up to 100 rabbits in a 12-hour-per-day space.
“We are thrilled to bring this new indoor garden to Sydney,” said Sydney Rabbit Park co-owner John Dyer.
“Rabbits love to be indoors and this is an opportunity to share their love of nature and nature’s delight with the community.”
The indoor garden is set to open in the Spring.
The new facility is the second of its kind in Sydney and the first to be built in the ACT.
The project will be operated by the ACT Government-funded Rabbit Project, with the help of the NSW Government’s Rabbit Conservation Program.
The new indoor farm is also being built at a time when the city is struggling to keep up with demand for rabbit food, and the rabbit population has fallen by more than 40 per cent in the last 15 years.
The Rabbit Project has been working with the ACT Department of Primary Industries to ensure the rabbit food supply is up to date and meets the growing demand for rabbits.
The indoor rabbit farm is expected to cost about $10 million.
